Australia men’s rugby team and Fiji women’s rugby team have qualified for next year’s sevens event in Olympics at Rio de Janeiro. The Wallabies defeated Tonga in the Oceania Sevens Championships final by 50-0 to claim the spot in Rugby at 2016 Olympic Games. On the other hand Fiji women’s beat Samoa by 55-0 to seal berth in 7s event at Rio.
5th rank in the world team Australia were supposed to meet Samoa in the final match but Tonga surprised Samoa in the semi-final and confirmed final match against Wallabies. Australia women’s rugby is already reached to Rio Olympics 2016.
Fiji women’s rugby team also known as Fijiana and they defeated Samoa to enter in Olympiads XXXI. Samoa earn second spot in in this qualifying round whereas Cook Islands stood at third. And both these teams will have to chance to make it into Olympic Games next in June.
Fiji women’s captain Anna Maria Roquica said, “We worked really hard over the last eight weeks at home to get here and we are very happy. We are so pleased to qualify for the Olympics but we know we have to improve our fitness and skills further. Importantly we have to keep believing in ourselves.”
